Okay so I lied..more black and white stuff. Found myself in the glorious situation of having half an hour with absolutely nothing to do before picking my kids up from school, so I plonked myself in the nearest bar, ordered the least fancy kind of tea on the board and sat and sketched. There were lots of people either reading or having discussions over bits of paper, pads, magazines etc, so I decided to make paper the theme of the day...
Alas paper can only hold the attention for so long....

Hi Sam love your line work
Hi Isabel,
Glad you like it and thanks for checking in! I'll pay the complement right back - checked out Sketching in Mauritania and it's ace; so vibrant and colourful (really inspired me to take the watercolours out next time I go sketching...better do it whilst the sun's still shining over here!)
Great sketch of the guy in the comfy chair.
Thanks for suggestion of speed sketching. Did a bit yesterday. But my mind's eye doesn't hold the image very long.
Hmmm.
How long yo reckon you spend per sketch ?
Erm.... might need to put my money where my mouth is on this one and go on a train journey to see if I can do it! I had a go on the beach drawing people hauliing sailboats up the jetty, which meant I really only had about 30 seconds to look and draw, then had to fill in gaps.. Mixed results, and I'll warrant that though it's a cool exercise and one that I'll repeat none of it was really blog worthy.. The speedy draw does turn up gems sometimes mind. I have problem with my minds eye filling in gaps, which is a bugger when you have to pull pics of people from the ether for illustrations etc...hence being on a bit of a mission to train myself. Hopefully booking myself on a 'Life drawing with motion' course soon to..
It is a tricky one. Always admire people like Rodin who seem to do three lines, and there is a whole person.
Am going to post a couple of the quick sketch tryouts if you feel like popping over...
