Face time

Helloo again - here comes a bit of filler!  Went to the Tobacco factory Life Drawing thingy on Monday (having got back from a weekend roasting myself in Cornwall just minutes before...keeping it real people..), which this week was a straight portraiture session.

I quite like this one, although if anything it's a bit wishy washy - loyal readers'll know I kinda like the spontaneousdrawquicklywithapenandforgodssakedontthinkaboutit approach, but on this occasion well...I didn't have the minerals.
By the way, for a killer example of quick pen drawings of people, can I thoroughly recommend Tom Plant's latest blog post - it's proper!

Thanks for the mention Sam. Amazing timing for a Cornwall trip, I'm insanely jealous. Great volume in the portrait. Love the judge Dread pout as well.

Seems pretty good to me (detailed analysis there!), especially immediately after a trip back up the M5.

I'm aiming to put a couple of my recent portraits on my blog. I NEED a camera. I'm halfway through stitching little scans of big paintings together...

Heh heh - doing the photoshop shuffle there Frances! A chore i know all too well. I look forward to seeing some big paintings though. And cheers Tom - I try to put a Judge Dredd chin on all my portraits - he is the law.

Love the depth in his eyes and the shadows.

And PURPLE ? Was this a conscious decision, or the only crayon in the box after the other kids had chosen. Ha.

Envy you your proximity to Cornwall.

I'm not sure it is possible to sketch in gold, is it ?
